The Antisemitic Origins of Islamist Violence
Language: English
Session: The lecture will address the antisemitic origins of Islamist violence, starting with the writings of Muslim Brotherhood ideologue Sayyid Qutb and his central importance for contemporary terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Islamic State. Furthermore, the focus will be on how Qutb developed the antisemitic conspiracy theory about the war against Islam, how he created the image of a Muslim victimized community and how contemporary terrorist groups have adopted this conspiracy theory in their recruitment and propaganda.
