Ute Steyer, received her rabbinic ordination (S’micha) from The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York in 2009 where she also received a M.A. in Jewish Thought.
After her ordination she has worked as the program director in the Center for Jewish Law and Contemporary Civilization at Yeshiva University and as researcher and adjunct lecturer at The Jewish Theological Seminary until her appointment as rabbi of Stockholm and rabbi of the Great Synagogue of Stockholm in January 2015.
Her academic research is in the area of legal ethics in halakha.
Rabbi Steyer is a member of the Swedish Interreligious Council, The Rabbinical Assembly, and the permanent scholar in residence at Paideia.
